DESCRIPTION

This tartan was adopted by the town of New Glasgow in 2000 (Resolution 2453), partly as a result of partnership with the Scottish City of Glasgow.

It is based in the Glasgow tartan? and the colours have the following symbolism:

Red symbolises the ultimate sacrifice given by former residents in times of conflict,
Blue represents the East River, the lifeblood of the community,
Green represents the rolling hills which surround the town, and
White is a symbol of the new beginning represented by the millennium.
