Stone Arabie Tartan Blankets are deliciously warm and thick. They are handwoven to order from pure New Zealand wool. The wool is spun and dyed in Canada to produce a two-ply yarn which fulls beautifully to produce a soft and long-lasting blanket.
I weave my blankets on a 60-inch Canadian LeClerc loom. After weaving, the blankets are hand washed in pure (hypoallergenic) soap and fulled to the required width. They are then hand-rinsed in mountain water.
My standard blanket size is 48 inches wide by 60 inches long (plus a 6 inch fringe at both ends), although the length will vary according to the size of the tartan pattern. I can, however, weave blankets up to a width of 108 inches.

If you want to find your tartan there are a number of useful internet sites that provide databases of tartans.
The Scottish Register of Tartans is the formal register of tartans that was set up by the Scottish Government at the beginning of 2009. Their search engine is currently rather basic.
The Scottish Tartans Authority is an independant charity that promotes and researches tartan. The STA database is much larger than the Scottish Tartans register with more than 7,000 entries (3,000 more than the Register), and the search engine is more advanced and user-friendly.
The House of Tartan, a Scottish weaving company, also provide a database which shows the tartan patterns 'up-front' although it is basically an alphabetical list of tartans.

The standard size allows for three to four repeats of the pattern across the width of the blanket, and four to five repeats down the length. A standard blanket weighs a little over 3 lbs and after fulling is roughly a quarter of an inch thick. A standard width tartan blanket is currently priced at C$255 (plus delivery costs).
