The Red Deer Highland Games Association celebrated their 50th. Anniversary in 1997. As part of their celebration, the Association commissioned a commemorative tartan, which was designed by Joyce Munawych. The City Council passed a resolution on November 18, 1996, officially naming the tartan “The City of Red Deer Tartan.”
The colours represent the following:
Green for parks
Red for Red Deer
White for snow
Blue for sky and river
Black for oil and soil
Gold for the golden anniversary and grain.
** If you intend to weave or otherwise use any of these patterns, please be aware that you may need
the written permission of the designer or producer. This information can be found in the Scottish Register of Tartans.
