This tartan was designed by James Carl McCuaig in 2010. McCuaig is a Sept of the Clan MacLeod, specifically MacLeod of Harris. This tartan is for those families that emigrated through Glenelg, Scotland, to Canada in the late 1700s and early 1800s. The tartan is based on Macleod of Harris. It includes an additional black check to denote "Son of Old Blackie" - one of the interpretations of the name McCuaig (MacCuaig).
