The colours used are Dark Red to represent the granite of the Shield, green for the evergreen forest, dark brown for the soil and bark, shale brown for the sky and fruits of the forest, with faded blue for lichen and moss and off-white for birch and Indian-pipe (a parasitic plant of the wintergreen family - Monotropa uniflora).
