This tartan was designed by James Rourke of St Catherines, Ontario for his family and descendants.
The colours of this tartan
are taken from two ancient coats of arms. The gold and black are from the arms of the
Breffni O'Rourke in Ireland; and the scarlet and blue represent the Frew sept (a sept of Clan Fraser).
Azure also represents the past and present generations of Rourkes and
Frews that have performed Naval and Military service.
