This tartan was designed in 2009 by Michael Martin of Corner Brook, Newfoundland. It celebrates the Scottish heritage of Labrador. It is based on the tartan of the Strathspey Grants as Donald Smith, the Lord Strathcona and one of the founders of Canada, was related to the family.
