This tartan was designed and woven by Dorothy Unrau of the city’s Spinners & Weavers Guild to celebrate the city’s 75th anniversary on March 15th 2004. It was officially accepted by the City Council in January 2004.
The colours were chosen to represent the Cariboo:
Yellow for the gold rush
Blue for our lakes and rivers,
Green for the forest,
Red for the Hereford cattle,
White for our winter playground, and
Black for the Angus cattle.
** If you intend to weave or otherwise use any of these patterns, please be aware that you may need
the written permission of the designer or producer. This information can be found in the Scottish Register of Tartans.
