DESCRIPTION
The STA state that this tartan was designed by Kirsty Anderson of the House of Edgar for Whigmaleeries of Pictou as a fashion tartan. The Whigmaleeries website credits their Frances Buchan as the designer, and the copyright was registered with CIPO under Ms. Buchan’s name on the 4th September 2007 (1051521). Whigmaleeries gives the following explanation of the colours:
Green for our forests and land,
Blue for the ocean,
Gold for our beaches,
Red for our industries, especially the lobster,
White for our lighthouses, and
Purple for the Scots.
